Brazilian Carnaval Follies

It's been a little over a week since the end of carnaval - or Mardi Gras for the Northerners - but still I couldn't pass up to post some great images I got in my e-mail box yesterday. If you've never had the opportunity to experience Brazilian carnaval in person you don't know what you are missing! The joy and party fever is contagious and people of all ages, races and walks of life join in on the festivities. These images are of a street group in Rio de Janeiro, called banda, where revelers sing and dance to traditional samba tunes, usually accompanied by a small marching band. These bandas can gather anywhere from a dozen to a few thousand people following them on the streets.
I wish I had been there!!
