Madonna For Chopard

On more Madonna news (never too many at Little-Pumpkins), the Goddess has turned to Chopard to create the custom diamond knuckle ring that reads “M-dolla” and the Happy Diamonds cross she wears on the cover of her new and much anticipated album “Hardy Candy.” Designed by Chopard co-president Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele herself, the ring features 258 brilliant cut white diamonds with the signature Chopard floating diamonds in the flourish of the letter M. This is the second partnership between Chopard and Madonna; their first was the pave diamond “Hung Up” necklace the Pop Queen wore onstage from her “Confessions on a Dance Floor” album. The “Hard Candy” album cover has a WWE-like wrestling theme with Madonna wearing a black leotard, thigh-high black boots, a WWE-like wrestling title belt, black gloves and, of course, the Chopard M-dolla ring and the diamond Chopard cross with 3 diamonds.

Christina Aguilera For Stephen Webster

Christina Aguilera looking stunning in the new ad campaign for jeweler Stephen Webster. Christina has come a long way from tween mouseketeer, via dirrrty X-tina, to her current 1940's glamour gal. She has had some serious fashion missteps along the way but finally she has come to her own skin. She does incorporate the classic Hollywood starlet persona perfectly and this is the best she has ever looked in my opinion. I guess motherhood did her very good!

Victoire de Castellane Is My Soul Mate

I came across this great short video on Dior Fine Jewelry's designer Victoire de Castellane on Style.com and had to post it here too. As I watched it I realized why I liked her designs for Dior so much - we are soul mates! The fabulous Victoire loves the same things that I do, like Japanese toys, miniatures in general and fake food props, prominently on display at her Paris office. Her collection of Disney snow globes is an homage to Jeff Koons, whom I am also a big fan, and such details are clearly apparent on her gorgeous creations. She admits that she likes everything "fake" and gets inspired by colorful and unusual everyday-things like bolts of neon plastic string, kept in overflowing baskets in her office.
She admits that "I would love to be Jessica Rabbit, but I'm more maybe the stepmother of "White Snow", clearly showing her sense of humor and "I'm a child-at-heart" sprit de vie.

Cool Shop Window In Boston

My pal Seth sent me these photos he took from a jewelry store display in Boston's South End neighborhood. The cool display is made from garden hoses, to a very eye-catching effect.

Campana Brothers Glass Ladybug Bell By Venini

Brazilian designer duo Campana Brothers create another must-have home item that blurs the lines between functionality and art. This gorgeous glass bell - Campane di Campana - is adorned with a dozen small ladybugs and executed by the master glass-blowers at Venini in Italy, in a edition of 4 units. It is far from practical but it surely is a joy to look at. It retails for US$2,900.00 and it is available at Moss.
It reminded me of the stunning pieces that designer Victoire de Castelane creates for Dior Fine Jewelry, always peppered with tiny insects and creatures. Love it!

Naomi Goes Nude For Tic Tac

Supermodel Naomi Campbell posed for photographer Sonia Sieff advertising long time friend Michel Klein's new "Tic Tac" watch completely nude. Naomi looks great laying on a bed of black sheets wearing the watch...which watch? Not sure many people will be paying attention to it anyway...

The black ceramic “Tic Tac” watch is now exclusively available at Colette in Paris, for just under 600 Euros/US$858 , but will be distributed by Seiko in the U.S., Russia and Europe. The ad will appear in magazines such as Elle, Vogue, Numéro, L’Officiel and Jalouse. Click image to enlarge.

Yohji Yamamoto For Mikimoto

When the revolutionary of women’s prêt-a-porter and a 114-year-old Japanese jewellery house collide, the outcome was destined to be a tempestuous affair. Together these two design giants, both synonymous with Japanese culture, have crafted three themes within the range; Moon, Drop and Le Cri. All feature stunning Mikimoto pearls, ranging from striking white to the deepest black, to create a dark and moody feel to the line. The Moon range draws influence from the lunar cycle, where glittering white gold discs capture a look of luminosity. Drop sees pieces replicate turbulent oceans and Le Cri is a more conceptual design which draws upon death as its main theme with stunningly sculptured pendants that draw inspiration from Munch’s ‘The Scream’.
As a whole, the collection has the feel of fluidity with a dreamlike aura that evokes the flowing silhouettes of Yamamoto’s clothing, and in a similar way to his fashion focus, embodies a striking avant-garde spirit that is far removed from current jewellery trends.

SoWa Open Market in Boston

This past Sunday I took a walk through Boston's SoWa Open Market, on Harrison Avenue. SoWa stands for South of Washington Street, Boston's hip & happening warehouse district, home of fancy renovated lofts and artist's studios. The open market is a mix of farmer's market, flea market and crafts fair. There I found artisans, artists, bakers, florists, vintage clothing & furniture dealers and designers to name a few. The eclectic mix has a hip edge to it, not at all granny's old church swap meeting. As it was a warm Fall afternoon the place was packed with young couples with baby strollers, gay guys with baby strollers and the usual bargain hunters. The images above illustrate a bit of the day's outing and the variety of different cool vendors there. I'd definitely advice an out-of-towner to stop by for a stroll and experience a bit of SoWa's hip vibe. The market is open from mid May to late October.
