Fergie For Kipling

Celebrities will do anything for a buck these days and Fergie is no exception, so it seems. She can currently be seem as the face of Kipling bags, you know, the one with the monkey logo. This is definitely not my favorite campaign around as neither the bags or Fergie look that great on the images. I am sure she pocketed a pretty penny to advertise their products but she might as well grab them while she's (still) hot.

I stayed up last night to watch the Grammy Awards just to be able to watch Amy Winehouse's live performance. As she was not granted an US Visa in a timely fashion she resorted to a via-satellite performance from London - and was all worth the wait because she rocked! She grabbed five of the six awards she was running for including record of the year, song of the year and best new artist. She looked very surprised with all her awards as she fumbled words thanking her family and dedicating it "To my Blake, incarcerated!" - as her hubby is serving a jail sentence for a pub brawl. Amy looked fab in her black mini-dress and trade-mark beehive and gave out a full bodied soulful voice that would impress even the Winehouse skeptics. She sang "You Know I'm No Good" and "Rehab", songs that couldn't be more right-on in regards to her troubled past months. I think she is a fantastic singer and I was all smiles watching her sing and accept her golden gramophones.

Fergie performed next to John Legend and proved she can hold a tune like the best of then. I didn't love her outfit as that long neck scarf looked too "old lady" for her.

Fabulous Rihanna also rocked the house performing with The Times in one of the opening numbers. She is just so gorgeous and talented that she can do no wrong in my eyes and she glowed on stage last night. She didn't go home empty handed though as she won for best Rap/Song Collaboration with Jay-Z for "Umbrella" .

Tina Turner and Beyonce also had an outstanding Grammy performance in their "Proud Mary" duet - one of my favorites. Tina is still as hot and energetic as in her "Private Dancer" days and exhuded her "legend-status diva" even when rocking next to one of today's hottest talents.

Kanye West gave one of those cocky acceptance speechs that made me want to throw up. I get that people should have positive images of themselves but why do some rap/hip hop artists need to be so stuck up? Thumbs down!

I was shocked to see how HUGE Aretha Franklyn has become! I know she's an older lady and all but she looked like a small planet in that horrible one-shoulder lime green dress when performing during that b-o-r-i-n-g gospel number. She is way too fat to be exposing her arms, specially on live TV. The spaghetti straps on her gown were stuck deep in the creases of her shoulder fat and that was not a pretty sight. At least she had the clue to cover up her arms at the post-Grammy party, seen above with Brandy. Aretha is a legend and deserves all r-e-s-p-e-c-t but she needs a new stylist really bad!

Fergie For MAC's VIVA GLAM

Fergie is the newest face of MAC’s Viva Glam campaign, which began in 1994 and has raised more than $100 million for HIV/AIDS.

“I’ve been a fan of the campaign since the early days, and I remembered when RuPaul and Mary J. Blige did it,” Fergie says. “They pick controversial people who aren’t afraid to speak their mind, and that’s definitely me. I’m very proud to be a part of it.”

Fergie, 32, wants to educate her fan base, which largely consists of teens and young adults.

“[MAC is] going toward one demographic, and I think I can be very helpful with that,” Fergie added. “I know certain people who are very proud of having unprotected sex and the fact that they haven’t caught anything yet.”

One must not forget that Goddess Dita Von Teese has also graced MAC's VIVA GLAM's campaign in the past.

Fergalicious Fergie is Blender Magazine's Woman Of The Year and she is looking quite Photoshop-licious too! I do like Fergie and I think she's got it going on and is quite good at what she does. At the same time all this air-brushing that celebrities go through when they appear in the print media is getting out of control. It must be tough for all these acclaimed beauties to live up to these high expectations when not even they look like themselves in "real life"! They end up coming out looking like beings from a difference planet with their pore-less flawless even-tanned skins, toned bodies and glossy hair. Don't get me wrong, if I had to be featured on a magazine cover (I wish) I'd want to look my best ever, even if I had to cheat with some digital image editing.

Fergalicious @ Allure

Fergie photographed by Michael Thompson for December's Allure magazine looking very sexy and va-va-voom-ish. Here's a little sample from the mag:

"The lyrics to "My Humps," which she describes as "a little bit racy," made Fergie nervous at first. Although she considers herself a flirt, she's quick to point out her dedication to her boyfriend, actor Josh Duhamel. "I'm a very sensual person...and I love being with one man. My man."

I spent this past New Years in Rio de Janeiro and The Black Eyed Peas performed a free concert on Ipanema Beach, that started right after the fireworks. I must say that when Fergie sang her ditty "My Humps" it sounded almost like the recorded version. She was quite good in person, to my surprise, and she got the crowd of a few tens of thousands going throughout their performance. I did see some unflattering pictures of her in a tabloid, in a "before they were stars" kind of spread, that looked almost like she had some face work done. Who cares, right? She looks great now and I do like her sass and sense of style.
