The Wonderful World Of Bill Ward - King Of Glamour Girls

Bill Ward's long, prolific pin-up career began during World War II when he created a curvy distraction named Torchy for his fellow soldiers. His taste for impossibly buxom blondes—teetering on stiletto heels, legs encased in black nylon, torsos packed into satin gowns—precisely suited America`s collective postwar sex fantasy, and the late 50s men`s magazine boom made him the most popular girlie artist in the country. Through the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, Ward broadened his range to embrace a variety of fetish subjects, but he never varied from his template of the Ultimate Woman—except to make her breasts a little bigger, her heels a little higher, or the satin and leather encasing her a little glossier.

Miscellaneous Orphan Images

This is just a dyslexic batch of miscellaneous images that I keep collecting online and never quite seem to find the right post to publish them. They just keeping clogging my computer and after looking at them for weeks & weeks in a row it's time to unload them in this ADD format. I tend to be very attracted to certain images and save them as I browse the web for future blog features. I like tongue-in-cheek humour, saturated colors, cute stuff, nostalgia, etc. Feel free to e-mail me images that you think I would like to post here at the blog!

Jenna Jameson For PETA

Geez, it seems like everyone and their mother is in a PETA campaign these days. The new PETA pin-up girl is porn star Jenna Jameson in a "Pleather, Not Leather" poster campaign against the use of animal hides for clothing and accessories. What confuses me is that petroleum products are far worse for the environment than organic leather, though I am against any & all cruelty towards animals. It would be more effective in my opinion to campaign against any leather-looking products all together as vinyl, plastic, pleather, etc will all be here longer than most of us and probably poison water sources and do more harm than good to animals (and people). Jenna Jameson's silicon boobs alone will outlive all of us!

Gwen Stefani @ V Magazine

The fabulous Gwen Stefani is V Magazine's March cover girl. She appears in two different cover versions shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and she looks hot hot hot! I love Gwen's great fashion sense, never afraid to take risks and steering away from the "pop princess" look and fall-traps. She is pregnant again by the way.

Scarlett Johansson & Natalie Portman @ W Magazine

Screen sirens Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman are the cover girls of W's February 2008 issue. They are also featured inside in a very sexy fetish-inspired layout and both look gorgeous. Their new movie "The Other Boleyn Girl" debuts on February 29 here in the US and I can't wait to see it. I watched the preview the other week and it looks just amazing, with great sets and wardrobe. Both Portman and Johansson glow in the screen with their flawless beauty and great acting chops. I just love Natalie Portman and she was just so amazing in "Paris, Je T'Aime" that made me all teary eyed.

The Pin-Up Art Of Gil Elvgren

Gil Elvgren has joined the ranks of Petty and Alberto Vargas as one of the premiere American pin-up artists...the Norman Rockwell of cheese-cake. His heroines are often caught in humorous but distressing situations. His exquisite oils of gorgeous girls-next door their skirts often blowing up to reveal lovely nylon-clad limbs rival his mentor Haddon Sundblom's "Coca-Cola" Santas for sheer nostalgic pleasure.
Elvgren looked for models with vitality and personality, and chose young girls who were new to the modelling business. He felt the ideal pin-up was a fifteen-year-old face on a twenty-year-old body, so he combined the two. An Elvgren model was never portrayed as a femme fatale. She is, rather, the girl next door whose charms are revealed in that fleeting instant when she's been caught unaware in what might be an embarrassing situation. Gusting winds and playful plants grab at her lovely, long legs. She is intruded upon as she takes a bath. Her skirts get caught in elevator doors, hung up on taps, and entangled with dog leashes. The elements conspire in divesting her of her clothing.

Hilary Swank @ W Magazine

Hilary Swank looking amazing in W Magazine's January issue. I am a huge fan of W for it's daring fashion spreads and great clothing choices. The large-format magazine make these already gorgeous photographs look even more powerful on those big glossy pages. Hilary Swank is flawless and a superb actress to top it off. She was photographed by Steven Klein in an erotic fashion fantasy lay-out alongside sexy cherub-faced model Luke Worrall.
