More Murakami @ The Brooklyn Museum

A few more images of the Takashi Murakami show at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. I have no immediate plans to go to NYC, as I am all the way down in Florida now, but was I still living in Boston I'd hop on an Amtrack and be there for sure.

Murakami & Louis Vuitton @ Brooklyn Museum

The Brooklyn Museum has finally confirmed it will host a pop-up Louis Vuitton shop to coincide with its Takashi Murakami exhibit starting next month. They've also put select items online to whet your appetite until the exhibit kicks off on April 4, like the super-adorable cushions and T-shirt above. But the real stars of the store will be the "monogramouflage" Vuitton handbags, which will sport a new monogram pattern created by Murakami. Images of the collection haven't been released, but we're kind of hoping the flower products online are a sneak preview.

Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2008 Ad Campaign

Gorgeous new ad campaign for Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2008 season, shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. It features languid femme-fatales, sporting the latest in must-have LV logo-ed handbags, laying atop bright-colored car hoods. That got my motor running! Vroom!!!
The hand-picked beauties who adorn the images are the creme of supermodels, like Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Stephanie Seymour, Claudia Schiffer, Angela Lindvall and Natalia Vodianova. I am surprised not to see Giselle Bundchen in it, but what do I know?
Marc Jacobs shares with us the thinking behind the new campaign:

I thought the idea of hot chicks and cars was really cool - and very Richard Prince.”

Rihanna Gets a Spanking @ GQ

Barbados stunner Rihanna is one GORGEOUS woman and she is not shy about showing off the goods in a kinky GQ spread. She gets a good spanking from some guy - Robin Thicke - that is also a fellow singer. I must live under a rock but I have no clue who he is... Maybe I've heard his song in the radio but the name didn't stick. Getting back to Rihanna, she is wearing some delicious outfits Cavalli, D2 Squared, D&G and Luis Vuitton, but my favorite is the gold Tomas Maier bathing suit on the photo below. HOT!

Faux Handbags

I spotted all these faux handbags during a single day's outing in Rio de Janeiro. I still kick myself for being too shy to pull out my camera in the subway when I saw this shabby-looking granny carrying a faux Louis Vuitton Murakami handbag, bows and all. Like any other major city these days, you will find peddlers selling copy-cat Guccis, Pradas and Fendis, and Rio is no exception. The local government does such a poor job to combat piracy in general, with conterfeit CDs, DVDs and computer software being sold EVERYWHERE, that I assume fashion is not high on their priority list.
Considering that for the price of a real LV bag you can purchase a good second hand car in Brazil it is no wonder that the local ladies also want to sport some flash, even if without the cash.

Heidi Klum @ Jordache Jeans

Heidi Klum is on the new Jordache Jeans campaign looking a bit too photoshopped for my taste. The top image looks like her head was attached to someone else's body. Even her bum looks fake, as if she was wearing padded panties or something. I probably won't even talk about the boobs & tummy because she just had another baby not that long ago, and those were worked on for sure. I actually do like Heidi Klum a lot and Project Runway is certainly my favorite reality TV show. I will give her kudos for the daring ad anyway because going topless to sell K-Mart quality jeans does take some courage. Well, she did not do this for free, right? But nowadays with all this digital manipulation no celebrity looks real anymore, specially when their image is used in fashion/beauty ads. Remember those crazy Jennifer Lopez ads for Louis Vuitton when she looked like an alien? That was probably the worst high-fashion campaign in years!

Marc Jacobs - Guest Editor @ Visionaire

Louis Vuitton lovers will have a unique temptation this fall. The next issue of Visionaire magazine will be guest edited by Marc Jacobs. The issue will feature photos of the famously fashionable (Drew Barrymore, Selma Blair, Lil' Kim, Scarlett Johansson, Stephanie Seymour, Gisele Bündchen et al.) by noted fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The biggest draw for the 192-page edition will probably be that it comes in a limited-edition Louis Vuitton gold Monogram Miroir case. You can get yours starting October 1 for US$375.00

Gucci, Dior and Louis Vuitton Cakes

These faboo cake creations come from London's The Cake Fairy and they are 100% eatable and all the very realistic details are made from sugar paste. Imagine showing up at you loved one's b-day party with one of these confections?? Also the perfect gift for that fashionista friend of yours that has everything and only cares about designer labels. Unfortunately they are only available in London and cannot be shipped outside of the UK. But at around £130 they are much less expensive than that US$2,000 price tag that a real Louis Vuitton would set you back. Love it!
