Mario Testino @ Vogue Hommes International

I don't like fur. I am actually against wearing it, me or anyone else. I don't believe in fashion rules but fur to me is an outdated status symbol, that not only is ostentatious and vulgar but destroys the lives of innocents creatures in vanity's name. Sorry, I won't go all PETA on you guys but it really bothers me. We could go on and on about leather or wool but I do believe they fall in a different category altogether. Men in fur are specially heinous. Nothing says "queen" like a guy in a fur coat, unless you are from Siberia or is standing in Moscow's Red Square. Even fur trim on men's clothing gives me the willies. I have sinned in the past for selling fur (trim) items but I vowed way back never to touch the stuff again. I once worked at this place in Boston that sold these Prada scarves that were made out of dyed hamster fur! Eew! And we were not supposed to say that to customers as most cutesy Asian girls would not have gone for that.
Then we come to the Fall/Winter 2007-2008 edition of Vogue Hommes International with a "men in fur" editorial by photography's great Mario Testino, titled "Fur Men". I will disregard the tacky fur coats and focus on the lower mounds of fur instead, that are far more appealing to me...

Sexiest Man Alive??

Say what?? Who voted on this poll? Was Adan Sandler busy or something?
Maybe in 1997 Matt Damon could have been a contender but in 2007?? No way!

Street Art @ Miami's Design District

Great street graffiti art in Miami's Design District neighborhood. It was clearly a commissioned mural but nonetheless fabulous and really striking, as I spotted it from about 2 blocks away. It reminds me of an "Adam & Eve in Paradise" reference and I am sure it might have been the artist's inspiration as well. The mural is the work of Danny Fila, a Miami-based street artist. I can't help seeing Shakira the longer I look at the girl's face. Am I crazy or doesn't she look like that Colombian fire-cracker?

Brad Pitt @ GQ Italy

Brad Pitt is the cover boy of the October issue of GQ, Italian edition. His faux revolver tattoo brings to mind the tear drop ink that convicted criminals in the US get on their faces, symbolizing they've already committed murder, in or out of jail. It says they that they are real "bad-asses" or incapable to shed real tears. In Australia, the teardrop has an entirely different meaning. It is forcibly marked on convicts who are accused child molesters. This mark is then used as a justification for the beatings and abuse of the wearer. The teardrop in this case, represents the tears that the convict will cry, eternally. How lovely is that?

On a lighter note, I bet there are a lot of people out there that would love to "bang-bang" Mr.Pitt, but not in the literal sense if you know what I'm saying...

Ricky Martin's Tattoos

When did Ricky Martin get all these tattoos? I personally love tattoos and sport quite a few myself, but just cannot recall Ricky being such an ink lover. I found this image at People Magazine and while reading the accompaning text I was also a bit, let's say, amused:

"The Puerto Rican star is never without the company of a lady (!), or at least a tattoo of one on his left arm. And even though he’s a Buddhist, he’s got the Our Father prayer inked on his right arm in Hebrew. "

Did I sense a little sarcasm here?

Sex and The City - The Movie - Chris Noth is Mad

You know what has been ticking off Chris Noth lately? All the wrong predictions in the press about the plot of the Sex and the City movie, based on all of the shooting around town.

"Have you seen the script?" I have. There’s been all this talk of Big and Carrie get married. I’m not going to say yes, or no, but did you see me at the church with Sarah Jessica? No, because I was at the Brooklyn Detention Center shooting Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The pictures everyone’s talking about are me with Charlotte. What does that mean? All I can say is that you people have gotten nothing right."

Maid Chair by Nika Zupanc

This polycarbonate chair is still only a prototype but I love it already. It is called "Maid" and the creation of Slovenian designer Nika Zupank. She explains it in her own words:

"This chair is not about parts and materials. It is about flesh and desires. Its shapes are following sensual curves of ideal feminine body; it’s proportions are pushing fantazies to the surface. Maid is someone that brings joy in every days routine, order in chaos, a bit of fun in business. It is emotion squeezing device that conquers public and private place with the same unbrekable charm. It is pleasure altar in a bedroom. It is everybody’s darling in lounge bar. It is primadonna in house of high culture. It is "must see" in shopping avenues. Put it in the street, it will function as an HALT sign."

Mario Lopez @ Santa Monica Beach

Some inspirational images of actor Mario Lopez, running on Santa Monica Beach, in California. My friend Marty from LA sent me this link today and I realize that I need to cut down my carb intake ASAP. Might as well well cut down the sugar too. Note to self: purchase new pair of running shoes. NTS 2: Actually wear them for running.

Armani Exchange Windows in San Francisco

My pal Marty Meriweather spent the weekend in San Francisco and sent me these two shots above. This is the A/X-Armani Exchange "live" window display at their Union Square location and seemed to be causing a little street commotion. The window is promoting their underwear line and they picked a few buff guys to showcase the undergarments.

Seems like A/X is trying to move into the Abercrombie & Fitch's territory, as A&F is well know as the trend-setter for near-naked live models inside their shops and window displays. As we all know, sex sells and A/X wants to move some undies off their shelves too!

Chris Meloni Likes Horses

Law & Order SVU's star Chris Meloni was seen at the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge at the Hamptons, NY this past Saturday. Just a shameless plug for the leading actor of one of my favorite TV dramas. Kudos for the polo stick as a great photo prop.
