People Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful: Kate Hudson??

It all started going down hill when Matt Damon was chosen Sexiest Man Alive in 2007. Now People Magazine - the epitome of common sense & good taste (not!) - chooses Kate Hudson to grace the cover of their annual "100 Most Beautiful" issue. C'mon, Kate Hudson? She is alright looking but in no way worthy of the such privilege - and being on People's cover surely ain't one. Besides being a so-so actress, that if wasn't for her lineage would NEVER have gotten the foot in the door, she is just very...average. That's it, she is average. She is not a drop-dead gorgeous stunner like let's say Adriana Lima or an exotic beauty like Mila Kunis. She is just Goldie Hawn's daughter - plain and simple - and the only reason why she made the cover. Am I wrong?
My suggestions? Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Katherine Heigl, Kristen Bell, Salma Hayek, Hillary Swank, Angelina Jolie, Kristin Davis, Gabrielle Union, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna and the list goes on...

Attack Of The Guidos

I am not too sure where to start... The hair gel? The eyebrows? The fake tan? The cheap International Male wardrobe? The pout?
The Guido is an American institution born in New Jersey in the mid 90's. It has spread across the country and seems that won't go away. The Gotti kids are their poster boys and there are many sites that proclaim love to all things Guido. Even at my gym here in Florida I spotted 3 Guidos just last night - dead serious! You don't actually need to know them to hate them. The whole Guido-Stance (pout + squinty eye) is too Zoolander to be taken seriously but still I wouldn't want to hang with them - ever! Their whole look seems like a diluted version of discarded gay fashions and trends from the past decade - and probably unbeknown to their macho fronts - they look SO gay!

Flowerella by Kenny Scharf

Ooh...me love this Kenny Scarf vase! This very cool resin sculptural flower-holder is about 12” h x 9” l x 8” w and retails for US$300.00. It is available at Cerealart and it's part of an edition of 250 units - très collectable!
I've been a fan of Kenny Scharf's work since the mid-80's and proudly own a copy of The B-52's 1986 album (in vinyl) "Bouncing Off The Satelites" - artwork by "you guess who" - the closest I will ever get to one of his original oeuvres...

Suggestive Vintage French Postcards

The dog is mad because he smells ass...

What is she holding on that tray?? Is that what I think it is??

Your granny-panties will you if you drink too much wine in France...

...he loves my ass, he loves it not...

This card is very "subtle" but you get the idea...

It looks to me like two guys getting some "Brokeback Mountain" alone-time....

You are supposed to pick what you'd like to do together, like a prayer, a poem, make love or make babies. Tough choices...but I pick the sex one!

The Girl From Ipanema - 1965

video

This 1965 video shows Brazilian singer/composer Tom Jobim singing his classic "Girl From Ipanema" alongside American pop singer Andy Williams. Besides the obvious retro charm of Andy Williams' "Lost In Space" sweater this is just a joy to watch and listen to. I love all these mellow Bossa Nova rhythms and being Brazilian-born myself it also brings back some great childhood flashbacks... Love it!

More Dita Von Teese @ Cointreau - The Performance

A good day is a Dita Von Teese day!
Savour the deliciously "Cointreauversial" burlesque bomshell performing her signature martini-glass-routine, specially edited for the Cointreau event in NYC last week. 500 party revelers sipped Cointreaupolitans and Cointreau Margaritas before being treated to the highlight of the night, the reveal of the "Be Cointreauversial Show". Strutting on stage in her crystal-encrusted costume, designed by Catherine D’Lish (made of 350,000 Swarovski crystals and weighing approximately 75 pounds) she posed and pranced before plunging into her giant martini glass.
I wish I had been there!!

Elvis Bath Robe

When we think of the "King" many of us remember the unforgettable white "American Eagle" jumpsuit designed by Gene Doucette that he famously wore during his Aloha from Hawaii music concert. The show was broadcast live via satellite around the world on January 14, 1973. Over 1 billion people around the world watched and it was the first concert of it's kind!
The Suit has become the preferred outfit of Elvis tribute acts and impersonators the world over. But If you're not a Elvis tribute act yet fancy stepping into the shoes of the King from time to time, the Elvis Bath Robe is a great compromise between Elvis style and practicality . Now you can emulate the King of Rock and Roll in this awesome dressing gown based on the design of the original 'American Eagle Jumpsuit'.
One size fits most - Elvis Presley Bath Robe - £49.95

Julianne Moore @ Vogue Paris May 2008

Ageless beauty Julianne Moore looking gorgeous on the cover of the new May 2008 issue of French Vogue. The actress has been around for a while but only seems to get more beautiful each time I see her. She has the type of career that has to be the envy of many Hollywood female stars as her bold choices set her way apart from the "In Style" crowd. These pictures are so sexy and clearly done for an European publication. When would you see an American Vogue cover looking this audacious? Never! The current issue of "our" Vogue brings Gwyneth Paltrow looking more like a bad wax-version of herself (they do love their Photoshop in the US) and that is quite bizarre to me and everyone else, wouldn't you say?

100 Thousand People Can't Be Wrong

Yesterday Little-Pumpkins reached the 100K visitors milestone!
The blog humbly started last August and considering that my focus isn't nudity or celebrity gossip I think L-P is doing pretty well so far. Visitor traffic is up & down, though not a major personal concern - as I stated in the past this is a "labour of love" (how sappy!) not a money-making venture. The ads on the sidebar (soon to be removed) were put there mainly as a decorative effect, but as I have no control of what pops up I am not always too happy with them.
I thank my web pals for the many links and mentions - and specially to the many hundred daily visitors. Expect many more sassy, groovy, funky posts in the future!

My best,

Pumpkin Man

Another Sex And The City - The Movie - Poster

Another Sex And The City movie poster has been unveiled and star Sarah Jessica Parker gets the prime spot - again. An earlier version had already shown Parker going solo on the streets of NYC and that could only add fuel to the fire to the many rumours of on-set feuds. The gossip trade claims that salaries, script and wardrobe choices have all been reasons for animosities among the four main stars, specially between Sarah Jessica and Kim Cattral.
If you can't wait another month for your SATC fix you can browse through some older posts about the movie (fashion, feuds, plot leaks) by clicking away.

Madonna In Wax @ Madame Tussauds

London's Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum unveiled their version of Madonna's "Hard Candy" album cover. The singer is shown in a boxing ring in a similar position as the image on the album - coming out April 29Th in the US. I am surprised that they did not go all the way to reproduce it exactly like the original photograph though if does look like the Goddess is really there in person.

Florida's Pet & Eat

Am I the only one that finds this quite "amusing" (read: fucked up) that KFC actually sponsors "Poutry Tents" - a kind of petting zoo for farm birds like chickens, ducks and turkeys? Isn't KFC on Peta's "most wanted list" for cruelty to animals? I took these shots at a fair-type event a few weeks ago btw.

Then you walk a few feet away and come across a stall selling - what else - but giant turkey drumsticks!?

Oh, how cute! Racing pigs!! I love those cuddly chubby racing piglets!!

Oh, wait a minute! You can eat them too!

More Retro Beauty Ads - When One Girl Is Not Enough

If one Veruschka-clone is not enough bring in a couple of girls and make it a trio or a four-way or an orgy of wild manes and fierce looking pouts for maximum effect. A few more images of retro glamour for your enjoyment...

Ooh, that's a creepy-cute real-life Pikachu! I think I want one too!!

Walking Dog Balloons

I just love these Walking Dog Balloons! They are such a cool and exciting idea and will be a hit with both kids and adults - sure to bring a smile to the face! They come in three heart warming varieties – an adorable pug, a darling dachshund and a remarkable retriever. A virtual pet for every household that definitely doesn't need feeding and is extremely well house trained! The magic of the Dog Balloons is their ability to walk. They have been balanced perfectly so that when filled with helium they float just above the ground with their little feet dangling to the floor. When you gently walk with them, pulling the lead, their little legs and feet appear to walk giving a super fun, realistic K9 look. The balloons will come out to you flat - all you need to do is take them to a shop that sells Helium gas and they will fill them up for a small fee - Party shops, florists, toy shops - you get the idea. Each balloon can be refilled up to a maximum of 3 times. They are £5.95 each and available here.

More Dita Von Teese For Cointreau

Doesn't she look like the perfect 1950's June Cleaver-housewife?
Dita Von Teese exuding her signature nostalgic glamour on these new Cointreau promotional images. The chic French liquor maison has Ms. Von Teese as their new face (and body) and this is a match made in heaven in my opinion. Dita is flawless and Little-Pumpkins will always show her much love and adoration!

Saved By The Bell - The Slater T-Shirt Collection

I have to confess that 80's sitcom "Saved By The Bell" was never a favorite of mine - bad acting, bad fashion, bad plots... But as true nostalgia lover I can't help to succumb to the charm of these "homage" T-shirts to SBTB's Latino resident-hunk AC Slater - better known now as "Dancing With The Stars" hottie Mario Lopez. He has come a long way from that curly mullet and has even showed his muscle-y bottom on TV's "Nip/Tuck" a couple of seasons ago, but still that dimply smile is quite irresistible so get yourself a Slater tee and show him some love, will'ya?

''Black Slater" - US$20.00
"Don't Be A Slater Hater." US$20.00
Both available at 80'sTees.com.

"It's hot, turn up the AC" - US$18.00

If Cirque Du Soleil Went Gay...

video

This is an amazing display of concentration and human strenght, even if your gaydar starts beeping and you can't quite seem to contain your smirks. These Polish acrobats, who look like twin brothers covered in gold body paint and dressed in matching bulging bikini bottoms, go through a jaw-dropping "Cirque Du Soleil-esque" routine that reads quite homoerotic to me... If you squint they look naked and there are more face-to-crotch and butt-to-face moves here than in a Falcon video! Love it!

A Pound of Flesh Heart Paperweight

A pound of flesh: something which is owed that is ruthlessly required to be paid back.
This of course derives from Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice, 1596. The insistence by Shylock of the payment of Antonio's flesh is the central plot device of the play:
SHYLOCK: "The pound of flesh which I demand of him Is deerely bought, 'tis mine, and I will haue it."
The figurative use of the phrase to refer to any lawful but nevertheless unreasonable recompense dates to the late 18Th century but now you can own your own pound of flesh to keep or give it away as payment to a overdue debt, perhaps.

This handmade cast bronze paperweight in the shape of a mammalian heart is approximately 4.5" x 2.5" and weighs 1lb. Available at Barney's. US$135.00

Dita Von Teese @ Be Cointreauversial Event

The ever-gorgeous Dita Von Teese at the "Be Cointreauversial" event in NYC on May 22nd.
Dita is the new face of Cointreau and she brought her "Be Cointreauversial" show to NYC this week after debuting it in London this past year. The first ''Dita Von Teese for Cointreau'' event took place on December 13Th and was set in a beautiful church where she performed a specially created routine for the French liquor brand. The evening saw the world premiere of the ''Be Cointreauversial'' live show as well as the official launch of the Cointreau Teese Cocktail.

The Wonderful World Of Bill Ward - King Of Glamour Girls

Bill Ward's long, prolific pin-up career began during World War II when he created a curvy distraction named Torchy for his fellow soldiers. His taste for impossibly buxom blondes—teetering on stiletto heels, legs encased in black nylon, torsos packed into satin gowns—precisely suited America`s collective postwar sex fantasy, and the late 50s men`s magazine boom made him the most popular girlie artist in the country. Through the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, Ward broadened his range to embrace a variety of fetish subjects, but he never varied from his template of the Ultimate Woman—except to make her breasts a little bigger, her heels a little higher, or the satin and leather encasing her a little glossier.

Penguin Drink Coolers

What better way to keep cool than by calling on the help of the coolest creatures known to man, the penguins. This troop of penguins have liquid insides, so you can put them in the freezer and when you need them they will be nice and cold. All you need to do is let them go for a swim in your drink and they will help to keep it nice and cool for longer. The great thing about using penguins to cool your drink is that once they have melted, they can be frozen and reused, rather than diluting you drink like boring old ice does.

Available at DrinkStuff for £4.99 for a set of 12 darling penguins.

Bjork Performing @ Hammersmith Apollo - London

Goddess Bjork performing at London's Hammersmith Apollo on April 13Th and looking simply FAB! I love Bjork for all her originality and genuine fearless fashion sense, not to mention that she has got one of the most unique set of pipes out there. She always brings a little Nina Hagen to mind, another music-warrior-woman who has been beating her own drums since the 80's. Bjork's videos are a joy to watch as they are as out-there as her music can be. I own this live DVD set in which she performs at this church-like building, along with some Icelandic tribal chorus, that is simply amazing. Love you Bjork!

Kate Moss @ Vogue Espana May 2008

Vogue Espana is celebrating it's 20th anniversary with four different Kate Moss covers. Their May 2008 issue features images of Moss taken by British photographer Nick Knight.
Stars were obviously the theme for the shoot with Moss wearing a black Chanel star print jump suit on one cover, and a (mucho feo!) Yves Saint laurent white satin star print dress on another.

Madonna For Chopard

On more Madonna news (never too many at Little-Pumpkins), the Goddess has turned to Chopard to create the custom diamond knuckle ring that reads “M-dolla” and the Happy Diamonds cross she wears on the cover of her new and much anticipated album “Hardy Candy.” Designed by Chopard co-president Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele herself, the ring features 258 brilliant cut white diamonds with the signature Chopard floating diamonds in the flourish of the letter M. This is the second partnership between Chopard and Madonna; their first was the pave diamond “Hung Up” necklace the Pop Queen wore onstage from her “Confessions on a Dance Floor” album. The “Hard Candy” album cover has a WWE-like wrestling theme with Madonna wearing a black leotard, thigh-high black boots, a WWE-like wrestling title belt, black gloves and, of course, the Chopard M-dolla ring and the diamond Chopard cross with 3 diamonds.

Retro Beauty Ads

I am such a sucker for nostalgia that I just spent the last 15 minutes of my life browsing though hundreds of really cool vintage beauty ads on Flicker. It's so amazing to see what women really went through to keep up with beauty trends through the past 30 plus years and some of these fashions were pretty scary in retrospect. How long did one take to ready? Geez, some of those hair styles are sculptural to say the least! I am sure that in 3o years from now people will be saying the same things about our current beauty looks but nothing beats the late 60's-early 70's in out-there maquillage and funky hairdos. Love it!

What A Sell Out: Madonna Hocks Sunsilk

Lazy Sunday afternoon watching the telly, no big whoop. Suddenly Madonna appears. Is this a commercial for her new album "Hard Candy"?? No, she is selling shampoo on TV! Not sure what to make of it but does she really need the money that bad? Isn't she like a gazillionaire by now? Shampoo, really?? Nothing against celebs making some dough out of their images but I have high regards for Goddess Madonna and Sunsilk is not up her alley at all. A whiff of desperation enters the room...

Happy Birthday Felipe!!

My adorable Italian nephew Felipe celebrates his 3rd birthday today and I had to send him my happy birthday wishes too! His party is being held today at his grand parent's country home in Asolo, right outside of Rome, where Felipe resides with my sis & hubby. Wish I could have been there to squeeze those rosy cheeks but as I have to earn a living I couldn't attend this time. Sending all my love across the ocean to Felipito and the folks!

Adult Swim Blind Boxes @ Kidrobot

If you're like me, you still watch cartoons regardless of your age. That's why Adult Swim is the dopest block of programming to hit cable TV in years. The adult-oriented program features an array of totally absurd shows that are impossible to take seriously, yet are intelligent enough to keep you coming back week after week. Kidrobot knows how much you love the sweatpant-clad antics of Carl or the heavy metal madness of Murderface and Wartooth, so they present this incredibly awesome new blind-box mini series featuring your favorite show's favorite stars.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law, Frisky Dingo, The Venture Bros., Metalocalypse, Robot Chicken, Squidbillies, Moral Orel and Assy McGee are all given the blind-box treatment, so start searching for your favorite figures and treat your TV room to a little decor. US$7.95 each and available at Kidrobot.

Why Not? Deep Sea Divers & Cosmonauts

I love the retro feel of these oxygen domes and bubble helmets, though I have no auto-erotic asphyxiation fetishes at all. It's funny how once I start collecting random images all of a sudden I keep running into related pictures every where I visit online. I like to call these little groups Theme & Variation and have done a few post about it here on Little-Pumpkins. Any suggestions?

Christina Ricci @ Blackbook May 2008 Issue

Christina Ricci looking mighty sexy on the cover of May 2008's Blackbook magazine. Ms Ricci has a brand new movie coming out this month - the most anticipated "Speed Racer" - inspired on the 1960's Japanese cartoon series. "Speed" centers on a young race car driver, Speed (Emile Hirsch), and his quest for glory in his thundering, gadget-laden vehicle Mach 5. Ricci stars as Speed's girlfriend Trixie, his formidable ally on and off the track.

Pornochanchada - Brazilian Sexploitation Movies Of The 70's - Round 3

Digging through my many unused saved folders I came across these great pornochanchada posters that I never got to post here. I had done two very cool posts last year ( Round 1 and Round 2 ) on these nostalgic soft-porn movies but for whatever reason failed to publish the rest of my "research". I think they are grand!

Cool Threadless T-Shirts

I just can't get enough of these GREAT Threadless T-shirts!! Besides being simply awesome they are also very affordable at US$15.00 for guys tees and US$17.00 for the girl's, as 50+ bucks for a graphic tee is soooo not cool. There are dozens and dozens styles to choose from and I picked a few that are right up my alley, shown above.

Dita Von Teese @ New York Academy Of Art Celebration

Dita Von Teese attending the New York Academy of Art celebration of 25 years with ‘Take Home A Nude’ at Phillips de Pury and Company on April 16th, looking as GORGEOUS as ever.
I actually had a dream about Dita two nights ago, serious. She was caught in a surveillance camera killing this guy on a dark Gotham-city-like street by swinging this guy up & down, like Bam Bam. She would move about on a motorcycle wearing a Wonder Woman outfit (it was a dream, people) with a long red cape and she also had two hot female goons with her. I went to her fabulous apartment to let her know that I had just seen that on TV and soon the police would be there to arrest her. I help her pack a suitcase and was so worried that she had to flee soon. I also worried about all her beautiful clothing and collectables and what would happen to them once the police arrived. She was wearing black satin ballet shoes by the way and kept her feet on point the whole time. Then I woke up.

Jeff Koons @ Taschen

Wow! This book is 606 pages long!
I am very drawn to Jeff Koons' work and visual inspirations and have a few of his books and even a signed print, but at US$1,500.00 I will have to wait for a very generous Little-Pumpkins reader to fulfill my wish list. This large format book (13x17.3) comes boxed and is available at Taschen's site. I want it!!!

Eboy Wrapping Paper @ Nineteenseventythree

My fellow blogger pal Deemer at Paki Pop Tart sent me this really cool link that he thought I would enjoy and he was so right!
UK-based design company Nineteenseventythree sells the most amazing wrapping paper and gift cards that I have seen in a long time, through collaborations with up-to-the-minute artists and illustrators. They are also a "green company" using recycled papers and aiding in reforestation programs, that adds many points in my book.
One of my favorite designs was Eboy's printed wrapping papers that are good enough to frame in my opinion. They feature really cool pixellated colorful cityscapes and funky characters, retailing for £1.80 per silk paper sheet. Love it!

Cool Florida Warehouse Murals

One of the things that I miss most about being in Rio de Janeiro or even in the American Northeast is coming across expressions of street art in unexpected places. I love graffiti art and unless I am in Miami I don't seem to see it much around where I recently moved to. Everything here looks either very 1920's Spanish architecture or brand new faux-modern constructions, with very little room for cool art. I don't mean "graffiti vandalism" but just cool public sculptures, inventive murals or even a random graffiti tag around a construction site wall.
I was in awe when I spotted this amazing mural by the train tracks in West Palm beach. This block long warehouse on Clare Avenue was completely camouflaged in eye-popping colors and made me pull over and do some illegal "trespassing" to be able to photograph it all the way around. I actually had to walk along the train tracks in a completely deserted Sunday afternoon and I was just expecting some baseball bat-wielding gang to pop up from behind a dumpster and bash me. There is an antique Chinese art store that stores many of their statues outside as you can see and I was surprised that by simply walking behind the building (though I was not really supposed to) you could have access to them - and no one seems to bother stealing them.
After doing some online research I dug some info here in The NY Times:

"Jorge Pardo, the Los Angeles-based Cuban artist, has painted the largest canvas of his career: the 40,000-square-foot facade of a former warehouse at 1016 Clare Avenue in West Palm Beach, Fla. The building, below, is a sales office for 550Q, a condominium being built nearby. Mr. Pardo created the mural on a computer and supervised painters from Sole Scenic in Orlando, who finished it this month."

Make Me A Supermodel: Holly Talks

So you thought I was all done with MMASM? Not yet, buddies! Holly Kizer just gave an exclusive interview to Papermag and here's the complete transcript:

Holly Kiser, the newly-crowned Audrey-Hepburn-esque winner of Bravo’s surprise hit Make Me a Supermodel, is feeling good. Only a few months ago, the Virginia native was living in Miami with her fiancĂ© and trying to recover after being dropped from her modeling agency, who claimed she “couldn’t take a good picture.” Well her former agency is probably kicking itself now because Holly’s picture perfect look won her a contract with New York Model Management, $100,000 and a spread in GQ. We recently got a hold of Miss Holly to chat about her recent win.

Blaire Huntley: All my friends are super jealous that I'm interviewing you right now. We all loved the show!
Holly Kiser: Awww!

BH: What are you doing now that the show has ended?
HK: Well I just came home to Miami. Now I'm in L.A., but I move up to New York soon.

BH: So you're not going back to Miami?
HK: No, I'm over Miami! I want to start working in New York as soon as possible. The 13th I think I’m going up there.

BH: You had mentioned before in a video diary that you wanted to give your $100,000 check to your parents. Did you really give it to them?
HK: Yeah, I'm giving the money to my mom to her pay off her credit cards bills, because she's supported me financially. And this just proves that she really believed me. But, say, if I needed something for my apartment, if I needed an outfit to go to a casting -– she would take care of it. My parents are always there.

BH: They always called you the emotional one in the house. Do feel you've changed in terms of developing a thick skin?
HK: I just feel like I'm the type of person that just wears my heart on my sleeve. People just don't know that what I feel at the time is exactly what I'm feeling. If I'm feeling sad, you know I'm sad; if I'm feeling happy, then you know I'm happy. I don't know -- it worked in my favor I guess. I wear my heart on my sleeve and that's just who I am.

BH: What do you think was the hardest challenge on the show?
HK: Well, all of the challenges were hard, but I guess the hardest physical challenge would probably be the snake challenge because I had bronchitis and I'm very afraid of snakes and it was 17 degrees! And there were just all these difficult things. Plus, just being away from your family! If you had a rough day you couldn’t go back and tell them about it.

BH: You were the lone girl for a while there. How did you deal with all the testosterone in the house?
HK: It's so crazy. I don't know! If I hadn't won, it still would have been a huge accomplishment in itself right there, being the last girl in the competition. It’s a great honor, it really is.

BH: Who did you get along with best in the house?
HK: Stephanie was my best friend in the house. She was totally there for me and we confided in each other. When I won she was totally bawling her eyes out! She was so proud of me! It just proves that you can make friends even in these types of competitions.

BH: So, my final question is more for me. Do you think you could get Tyson Beckford's number for me?
HK: Haha! Oh my God! I don’t know Tyson’s phone number, but I probably will be calling him with a lot of questions!

Got Wood, Riffleman?

Ice Cream Truck In London

I just got these images in the mail yesterday from my sister that was in London for a few days this past week. It reminded me of this post that I had done a short while back and being a sucker for "naif art" had to post it here too. I love these pseudo-good attempts to recreate pop culture icons such as this Disney-inspired ouvre seen above.

Vintage Beefcakes

I am a total nostalgia freak and pin-up & beefcakes glamour shots always "prick up" my attention, if you get my drift. Here's a short video compilation on vintage male beauty & beefcake shots.

The Armory Art Center Mural

I just happened to drive by past this really eye-catching mural a couple of weeks ago and had to return there yesterday to check it out up close. This on-going project, unfinished as you can see, is the outside wall of West Palm Beach's Armory Art Center and it's a mosaic of ceramic tiles, pottery pieces, mirror shards and found objects.

With over a dozen state of the art studios, more than one hundred course offerings and an annual student population of nearly 3,000, the Armory Art Center is West Palm Beach’s only community art center. Classes are offered in ceramics, jewelry, painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and sculpture.

Cool iPhone GelaSkins

I had done a previous post on laptop Gelaskins and just found the same silicon adhesive covers for iPhones too. I really think they are grand and a great way to customize your personal gadgets. They retail for £9.95 each and available at Urban Retro.

More Kawaii-licious Vintage Postcards

I just can't get enough of this delicious vintage postcard images I keep digging online. I want them all and I want them now! I just adore the darling Topo Gigio (images 3-4), that was a childhood favorite of mine. I still have a few of his dolls somewhere inside my storage boxes and a couple of original 45s at my mom's place in Brazil. There were a few Topo Gigio recordings in Portuguese, though he was Italian "by birth" and I even vaguely remember one of his movies that I saw as a tyke. Love it!!

Each pack contains 8 randomly selected characters but whatever you receive will be fab. Each pack costs £2.95 and can be ordered though Tokyo Toy Store's website. Love it!!

Sumo Meets Japanimation

This great short video will definitely put a grin on your face! It's a traditional Japanese sumo match edited to look like a Pokemon fight making it far more interesting than the original version, to me at least. I wish they will do the same to those snooze-inducing sports like golf or car racing.

Dita Von Teese @ Mont Blanc Event

What's a better way to start the weekend than drooling at new images of burlesque Goddess Dita Von Teese? Even if I were to try really hard I can't come to find faults with her ever-perfect personal style and flawless beauty. Check out her manicure job! Click to enlarge the images and savour in delight of her peachy skin and minimal make-up. If I had to be extra-picky I would say ditch that cigar, Dita. I am sure that on a fetish level they do work for some but cigars REALLY stink and smoking is just gross altogether. Otherwise you can do no wrong!

Sophie Ellis Bextor In London

I just came across these great pictures of gorgeous British pop singer Sophie Ellis Bextor taken at a gallery party in London this week. I used to boogie to one of her big hits "Murder On The Dance Floor" during my Boston days and always loved the song's video for it's campy charm. It's reminds me a little of "Strictly Ballroom" and of how far one will go to win a dance competition. I hope you will enjoy it!

Topless Fishing Tours In Florida

The Smokin' Em Charters fishing boat, a 44-foot Trojan, was booted from the Fort Pierce City Marina, FL after city officials discovered the fishing service offers an optional add-on: well-constructed female first mates who will do everything a male mate would do, such as baiting the line, pulling in big fish and serving cold drinks, plus - oh yeah - removing their top for an extra US$150. According to their Web site, they charge from US$350 to US$2,000, depending on the length of the trip and destination.
Check out their website for a selection of questionable "beauties" available for hire.

Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger" - The Boy Version

Some people have WAY too much free time on their hands I must say! I admire the determination of these two cute French guys as they aced Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger" video choreography to perfection. I think Jay Jay and King Julien's version came out far better than the original below but I will let you decide who gets the big prize...

Skittles Car

This past Saturday I went to get a much needed haircut at a place not too far from where I live here in Florida. As I pull up in the parking lot I notice this funky car parked right next to me and couldn't resist taking some pictures to post here at the blog. At first I thought it looked like M&Ms candy drawn all over the hood but at a closer look I realized they were Skittles! Gee, one must really love Skittles to have it plastered all over their car and it clearly wasn't a cheap looking paint job. Hence that I would never drive in such a ghetto-fabulous-purple vehicle like this, I must say that it looked kind of cool and definitely unique.

Michael Griffith and the Savannah College of Art & Design came up with this concept to use construction sites for advertising Powerhouse Gym. Isn't this just awesome?

Madonna's Vanity Fair Globe On Ebay

The globe that Madonna had as cover prop for the cover of Vanity Fair's "Green Issue" (May 2008) is up for auction on Ebay. The benefit auction ends on April 18Th.
The globe, which took 10 days to complete, is made of plaster and marble dust with a recyclable polystyrene core, according to the magazine. It's going up for auction today with proceeds to benefit Madonna's Raising Malawi Charity. Madonna signed the globe as well and drew a heart over Africa.

The Boys of Australia's Teamm8

Teamm8 undies are sports classics with a fashionista twist inspired by Aussie sporting values of mateship and gritty determination fused with European flair. They’re great for savvy, style-conscious blokes who want premium look & quality, at a smart price. Teamm8 is ideal for fast-movers who tackle life head on and who want to be able to grab a pair of sexy, designer undies for every occasion, and go.

The Cook - The Movie

It s a long holiday weekend at the Lambda Epsilon Zeta sorority house, and a handful of girls stay behind to indulge in three days of partying, sex games and strangely delicious meals prepared by the weird new chef. But as the sisters begin to disappear one-by-one, the remaining coeds The Slut, The Stoner, The Bible Beater, The Dumb Hot Blonde, The Predatory Lesbian, The Tease, The Dominatrix and The Good Girl will find themselves trapped in a nightmare of graphic slaughter, involuntary cannibalism and heaping helpings of gourmet nudity. Mark Hengst, Makinna Ridgway and Kit Paquin star in this bloodspattered black comedy that cuts like a knife, tastes like chicken and serves up a scrumptious feast of carnage courtesy of THE COOK.

Jessica Simpson @ Esquire Magazine

Jessica Simpson on the May 2008 cover of Esquire magazine, dealing with a hormonal problem so it seems. The photo is a remake of a classic 1960's cover featuring Italian actress Virna Lisi and we have to agree that it is a bit odd, wouldn't you say?

Mighty Thor - The God Of Metal

I spent a good part of my childhood watching those Marvel cartoons on TV and The Mighty Thor was one of my all time favorites. The animation was beyond basic: the frames were simply moved side-to-side a-la Speed Racer with some minimal mouth-moving effects, but as a kid you disregard all that stuff. Now a little heavy metal moment with Thor as a head-banging guitar ace, that amused quite a lot. Enjoy!

More Murakami @ The Brooklyn Museum

A few more images of the Takashi Murakami show at the Brooklyn Museum in New York. I have no immediate plans to go to NYC, as I am all the way down in Florida now, but was I still living in Boston I'd hop on an Amtrack and be there for sure.

Cute Alert: Mocha The Hamster Eats Broccoli!

Mocha is on cute baby hamster who is having a ball eating his first broccoli stalk. He convulses in joy as he chows down that yummy little floret. I bet this will cheer up your day!

Why not? Girls On Bikes

I went all ADD when looking up these images on Ffffound. I was just browsing around, no agenda, when this first image comes up and every time I click on it another related photo (or not) will come up. It's a fun hunt and I probably spent a good 20 minutes jumping from page to page. The results became my "Girls on Bikes" post, a mix of current and vintage images and illustrations with a hint of camp, a dash of nostalgia and a cup full of cool. Enjoy!

Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room Collectables

Whether you're a Disney fan or are just looking for some cool new stuff to add to your tiki-themed bar, you can't go wrong with these Limited Edition Enchanted Tiki Room 45th Anniversary Collectibles ($20-$150). Made in limited runs for the classic Disneyland attraction's 45th birthday, they will be available exclusively at the park on Sunday, June 22. The collection includes a set of Tiki God replicas, mini-tiki replicas, the super-awesome Enchanted Tiki Fountain with colored LEDs and 4 miniature jets, and my favorite, Rongo, the Tiki God of Agriculture, which comes as the bottom to a green-glazed ceramic vessel that can serve as a glass or a bowl.

Kawaii-licious Vintage Postcards

These vintage postcards are just too much! I simply love this kind of "stop-motion" photography and the subject matter (cute little dolls!) is deliciously nostalgic. When I was a kid I was (still am) crazy for stop-motion films and I list 1969's "Mad Monster Party" as one of my all-time favorites. Tim Burton resurrected the genre with "The Nightmare Before Christmas" that I have watched a gazillion times and have been collected related memorabilia since it first came out in 1993. The 3-D version was actually amazing and gave me a chance to watch it again on the big screen a couple of years ago.

Sexual Innuendo In Comics - Round Two

Naughty, naughty, naughty dirty-minded pervs! Innocent comic book illustrations viewed through the sick eyes of twisted minds... Love it!!

Agyness Deyn @ i-D May 2008 Issue

You know what? I have never seen much in British model Agyness Deyn but I guess i-D magazine does. She is the face of their "Icon" issue in not one or two, but six (!) different covers this May. She is cute and all but take away the bleach blond mop of hair and she is just a little above average in my opinion. I am not a nay-sayer and wish her all the best in the world but I find it overkill when you are force-fed anyone (model, actress, singer) just because the media needs a new name to pump. Agyness pops up in every "most stylish" list these days and I just don't get all the hoopla about the girl. She looks adorable and probably is a great & fun gal but please give it a rest media people, please!

Jenna Jameson in Zombie Strippers

Retired porn actress Jenna Jameson (who turns 34 next week on April 9Th) starring in a new non-porn film called Zombie Strippers which will have a very limited theatrical engagement kicking off in April. I haven't even seen the movie but I can tell it will be a camp-fest begging to end and probably a cult film in the near future. The "plot" is pretty basic: "When a secret government agency lets out a deadly chemo virus causing the reanimation of the dead, the first place to get hit is Rhino's, a hot underground strip club. As one of the strippers gets the virus, she turns into a supernatural, flesh-eating zombie stripper, making her the hit of the club. Do the rest of the girls fight the temptation to be like the star stripper, even if there is no turning back?"
The poster is FAB!!

Tony Ward @ Vogue Hommes International

Model/actor Tony Ward in the latest issue of Vogue Homme International, shot by Jack Pierson. Ward started modelling in the early 80's having made several iconic collaborations with late photographer Herb Ritts, then also new to the business. He gained notoriety by dating Madonna and appearing in several of her videos including "Cherish" (merman!), "Erotica" and "Justify My Love". His acting debut came via Bruce Labruce's 1996 "Hustler White" which Ward plays the very risque title character.
I once ran across Tony Ward in LA's Waco store a few years ago. He had in tow this adorable half-Asian child, that I assumed was his daughter. He looked great though he didn't seem as tall as I'd envisioned him. He looked very "LA": jeans/T-shirt combo, gruff and unshaven. Hot!

Cute Alert: Hera - Feels So Good

Icelandic singer/songwriter HERA has been living in New Zealand for about 10 years while cultivating and carving out a very successful career in her native land on the opposite side of the world. In this adorable video Hera sings "Feels So Good" and as she told me herself in an e-mail "All things that feel so good but may be slightly wrong ;)". She is covered in puppy dogs and with this delicious Sphinx named Brian and that's enough reason to love her already! To know more about Hera visit her My Space page or go to Herasings.com.

Cameron Diaz @ GQ May 2008 - UK Edition

.

Cameron Diaz looking pretty hot in the UK edition of GQ magazine, May 2008 issue. I've always been a fan of Cameron and love her sass and I-don't-give-a-damn attitude. She is a joy to watch in the talk shows as she is always up for a good laugh. She used to be a model before getting into movies so she surely can strike a pose as these GQ images shot by Simon Emmet show.

Make Me A Supermodel: Holly Wins!

America has voted and Holly is the winner of Make Me A Supermodel! The results did not surprise me at all and I even voted for her through the Bravo website. The models had one last catwalk before the results were unveiled and Holly aced as usual. She did these great hunched-forward shoulder stances as she entered the runway and once again in front of the judge panel and she looked like a superstar! She won a modelling contract with a NYC model agency, a layout in GQ magazine and a US$100,000 cash prize. Not bad at all!

My boy Ronnie was the first runner-up and I did feel for him as Holly was announced the winner. Ronnie was a great contestant and his charm and personality won me over from the get-go. He was a gracious looser and was all smiles and apparently happy for Holly, that by this time had her face covered in dripping mascara. They hugged. It was sweet. I will miss you Ronnie... Call me, will you?

The models had surprise visits at their townhouse the night before the result final. Check out Holly's boyfriend!! Can you believe she claims they don't have sex? They look gorgeous together and he even brought her this mushy Lladro-style porcelain figurine of a couple embracing. She kept holding it the whole night, the figurine I mean. Actually they couldn't keep their hands off each other.

Ronnie's visitor was his mom and I could tell where he got his grace and personality from. She was a very sweet lady and this apple did not fall far from the tree. She was very cute telling Ben's wife, as soon as they met, that Ronnie and Ben were just friends! Loved that!

"What's up? What's up?" That what I kept hearing dull-as-doornail Ben say to his visiting wife. He looked so-not excited to see her at the door. He couldn't even give her a genuine hug. Ronnie jokingly said "awkward" as he is first introduced to her but awkward to me was how Ben couldn't hide his discomfort when seeing his wife after 3 months away in NYC. She wants everything to go back to normal. Ben wants to move to the Big Apple and be a model. I smell trouble.

The night's biggest surprise visit was Perry's allegedly cheating girlfriend Amanda knocking at their front door. Perry froze as he opened the door and saw her standing there. Amanda is gorgeous but I couldn't shake off the feeling that she was there for some TV-time exposure. She refused to talk about her alleged affair with Britney Spears' paparazzo boyfriend and her denial put a big "cheater" stamp on her forehead. How can Perry be so blind? Love is the answer to that, I guess. They acted like all was well and nothing ever happened. Whatever!
So from now on my Thursday night 10 PM slot is vacant as MMASM wraps up and I'll miss those guys. Hopefully Bravo's Sheer Jenius and Top Design will resume soon so I can get some excitement in my life again.

Comme des Garcons @ H&M !?

File that under bizarre fashion news: Commes de Garcons just announced a partnership with Swedish fast-fashion retailer behemoth H&M. I just posted this morning about how CDG seems to be spreading thin with so-many collaborations but this one is surely the strangest I've heard so far. Many top-shelf designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli and Stella McCartney have already designed special lines for H&M and even celebs like Madonna and Kate Moss have tried their hand at that too, but Rei Kawakubo? You know, 3-legged pants Rei Kawakubo! I am VERY curious to see what comes out of this one but I will have to wait until November 08 when the range of womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and accessories hit the shelves. She is also developing a new unisex fragrance for the Swedish retailer as well.

Madonna Elle Covers Double-Dose

One Madonna is never enough in my book. The Can-Do-No-Wrong Goddess is featured on the covers of Elle Magazine's May 2008 issue here in the US and also across the pond on the UK's version. I personally prefer the edgier British cover for it's cleaner lay out and semi-minimal text spread. The American version looks more like Glamour than chic Elle, with so much crap written all over that makes one go dizzy. Does anyone really read all those teasers before buying a mag? I don't. I buy a publication regardless of the cover type but for it's cover subject or I'll pick it up if I'm already familiar with it, like an i-D or Wallpaper.

Re-Ment Miniature Food

.

Puchi Petites are scaled miniatures of everyday items produced by Japan's Re-Ment company. These kawaii-licious collectibles will surprise you with their ultra-realistic, to-scale reproductions of everyday food items and objects. They are perfect for dollhouses or for the true toy fanatic that loves to build sets and dioramas with their favorite "action figures" and limited-edition toy art.
This Asian art form that has taken Japan by storm is now available for the first time in the United States through their website. These miniatures are fun collectibles you’ll treasure for years to come and are just too cute to ignore. Each piece is hand-painted, so every feature is shown to perfection. You’ll marvel at the incredible craftsmanship, which captures items with detail rarely seen—right down to individual slices of green pepper for your pizza and ice cubes that come out of the tray. Puchi Petites will also remind you of your own childhood, bringing back that sense of childlike wonder you felt when entering the world of your imagination. They are one heartwarming piece after another that scream: Nostalgic! Nostalgic! Nostalgic!
One cool feature on Re-Ment's site is the user gallery "Fun Room", where Puchi Petite's fans display their own mini-sets and diorama creations, featuring Barbies, Blythes and Godzillas interacting with some really cool faux-food products. I love them all!!

Comme des Garcons Product Bonanza

It does seem to me that Comme des Garcons is all over the map these days, doing collaborations with whoever comes their way, no? There was some very not-CDG-looking swimwear with Speedo, then those tidy-whiteys with Danish clothier Hammerthor and some interesting "organic" turds & penises print wallets with KAWS.
Now Comme des Garcons and 10 Corso Como got together with Levi's to produce the Black Cosmo Jeans. It comes in black denim and features a Comme des Garcons/10 Corso Como print over the upper part of the denim.
The denim is part of the Junya Watanabe MAN collection and is now available at Human Behaviour. Then there is the matching denim tote bag, featuring the same all-over print as the denim. It is now available at Conceptshop for US$64.00.
The Kiefer-Hi Patala "Marketing Machine" sneaker features a zipper instead of laces, comes in three colorways and features the "Marketing Machine" all-over print. They will be available soon at Dover Street Market and Dover Street Market inside Isetan.

Miscellaneous Orphan Images

This is just a dyslexic batch of miscellaneous images that I keep collecting online and never quite seem to find the right post to publish them. They just keeping clogging my computer and after looking at them for weeks & weeks in a row it's time to unload them in this ADD format. I tend to be very attracted to certain images and save them as I browse the web for future blog features. I like tongue-in-cheek humour, saturated colors, cute stuff, nostalgia, etc. Feel free to e-mail me images that you think I would like to post here at the blog!

Benetton's Africa Works Ad Campaign

Benetton puts the spotlight on entrepreneurial Africa. Its global communication campaign for 2008 promotes the Birima micro-credit programme in Senegal, a co-operative credit society founded by the Senegalese singer Youssou N'Dour. The programme will also receive financial support from Benetton Group. Africa Works - the slogan of the campaign developed by Fabrica - will appear on billboards and in the press throughout the world, from February 2008. It features Senegalese workers who have used micro loans to start small, productive businesses. Photographer James Mollison portrays them with the tools of their trade against a neutral background. They include, amongst others, a fisherman, a decorator, a musician, a jewellery-maker, a farmer, a tailor, two textile sellers and a boxer. These everyday people become tangible symbols of an Africa that uses the dignity of work to fight poverty, promote equitable development, maximise its resources and take back responsibility for creating its future.
In addition to outdoor and press advertising, the new Benetton campaign includes a series of projects and events: a special supplement distributed with Colors 73 about money in its myriad forms and substances; a new version of Birima, song recorded by Youssou N’Dour in 2000 and re-arranged by him in 2008 with the extraordinary participation of Patti Smith, Simphiwe Dana, Irene Grandi and Francesco Renga; a videoclip of the song; a cartoon about micro-credit produced specifically for the Senegalese community and African TV channels; a Benetton website devoted to the campaign and its related events and the http://www.birima.org/ portal, both devised and developed by Fabrica. The Africa Works campaign will also be on stage during the Senegalese singer's world tour, in particular during his concert at Paris Bercy on 5 April 2008.

Sexual Innuendo In Comics

.

I was peeing my pants looking at these very suggestive comic book covers I came across on Ebaum's World site. It's so hilarious to imagine how no publisher at the time realized that the double-entendre was too obvious to ignore. This last cover is actually quite creepy! No wonder the are so many rumours surrounding super heroes...
More to come! (No pun intended)
